Support the Farley-Kluger Amendment

I lost my only child in 2001 in a car accident here in Arizona and over the years, wrote a book, gave lectures and did a lot of media on loss. In January 2011, I joined with Kelly Farley, a grieving father from Illinois and we began a petition to Congress for the Farley-Kluger Amendment to the FMLA to add loss of a child as a covered absence. Currently, under FMLA, you can take up to 12 weeks unpaid for adoption, birth or illness in the family. There is no provision for grief. (www.farleykluger.com<http://www.farleykluger.com/>).

In late 2011, Senator Jon Tester introduced S1358, the Parental Bereavement Act of 2011, inspired by The Farley-Kluger Amendment to add loss of a child to covered conditions. In March, we travel to Washington to urge The U.S. House of Representatives to introduce a similar bill.
